Our Mountaineer Vest is for action and just a bit of warmth. The zipper goes
all the way up; it has hand-warming pockets; and the rolled collar unzips to
give you a snug hood when you need it. The back is solid all the way across
(no vents). Like all BestVests vests, the Mountaineer has an plenty of pockets
so you can tote your gear and still keep your hands free.
Eleven pockets: four on the front on each side; two inside; and an
extra-deep large pocket across the back. (Big enough for a catalog, if you
need one along! But we suggest carrying our rain
poncho in it. It weighs less!)
The BestVests® Mountaineer Vest comes in three colors: Forest
Camouflage, Black, and Desert Khaki (Cammo and Black in Juvenile sizes). Made
of tough, fast-drying cotton/poly fabric. It has heavy plastic zippers, a
drawstring on the hood, 12 loops at the waist for equipment or cartridges, and
flaps on the non-zipped pockets held shut by hook-loop strips.
The Mountaineer is a lined, lightweight vest that stops the wind. If you
want more warmth, may we suggest our thick,
stretchy Commando Sweater to wear under it.
Sizes: The Mountaineer comes in the widest size range of any vest we've
ever sold. For standard adults, you can choose from Small to XXXXX Large.
(Yes, that's 5X's!) And for kids or smaller adults, we have Forest Camouflage
and Black from Extra Small (Juvenile) to Extra Large (Juvenile). (XS-Juv in
Forest Cammo only) Same style as regular adult, but arm and neck openings are
cut slightly smaller to fit a younger person's frame.
Juvenile sizes are priced lower, at just $37.95; the larger adult sizes are slightly higher. (2XL and up)
But PLEASE measure your chest before ordering, and use our size
chart. MANY customers need a size smaller than usual.
